Jack Nicklaus conducted the
opening ceremonies at the
January 2012 PGA Show in
Orlando, Fl. He is an
inspiring speaker, and one
statement that resounded
with me was, "PRACTICE with
a PURPOSE." Jack was very
candid when he stated that
he never hit a ball on the
practice range without a
purpose, NEVER!
Sometime it's hard to stay
focused while practicing.
One technique I like to use
is playing a course in my
imagination. I’ll start with
a ball and imagine I’m on
the first tee. If the ideal
shot is a 250 yard fade off
the tee, I’ll get my 3-wood
out and play that exact
shot. From there, whatever
happened, I’ll play the next
shot as if I had gotten that
same result on the course
and so on through 18 holes.
Anytime you get a chance to
practice, from putt to
drive, put a purpose behind
each and every swing. It
worked for Jack!
I look forward to seeing you
on the range,
Rick Kline
P.S. Look for my 'How to
Practice Clinics' coming
this Spring!
